Damage, defects and returns
Every print is made to order. Nothing is stocked — each one is printed, mounted and framed for the person who ordered it, so a returned print cannot go back on a shelf. That shapes everything below.
If it arrives damaged or defective
Email cdriehmart@gmail.com within 14 days of delivery and it is reprinted or refunded, at no cost to you. That covers damage in transit, a printing fault, a mis-cut or mis-framed piece, and anything that is not what you ordered.
Photograph everything before you throw any of it away — the print, the packaging, and the outer box, including the damage to the box itself. Nothing needs to be sent back; the photographs are the claim. This is not a formality. A transit claim is settled on the state of the packaging, and without those pictures it can be refused outright.
Fourteen days is the window the lab works to, measured from the day the parcel is delivered. Telling me on day 15 means the claim can no longer be made, so please open the parcel and look at it when it arrives.
If you simply change your mind
Made-to-order prints are not returnable for change of mind. There is no restocking a 24-inch cold-press print of one photograph in one frame — it exists because you asked for it.
Two exceptions, and they are deliberate. If you are in the UK or the EU, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of delivery; return the print in its original packaging at your own cost and the full price is refunded once it arrives back intact. And if you are anywhere and something has gone genuinely wrong that is not covered above, email me — I would rather sort it out than win an argument.
Colour
These are near-infrared photographs. The colour is the point of the work, not a fault in it — foliage reads red or white because the camera is recording light your eye cannot see. No screen shows it exactly as the paper does, and cold press in particular is a matte cotton surface that reads softer and less saturated than a backlit display. A print that looks different from your monitor is working as intended, and is not a defect. If an exact result matters to you, email before ordering.
How it is made and shipped
Printing starts within a day or two of the order. Prints are made in the United States on archival pigment inks by a professional lab that works under my name — your order details go to them so they can print and post it, and nothing of theirs appears in the box.
You are buying from me, not from the lab. If something is wrong, you deal with me and I deal with them. You never have to chase a company you did not buy from.
Outside the US: orders ship by USPS, and customs duties or import charges are billed to you by the carrier on delivery. They are set by your own country and are not included in the price at checkout. Framed pieces and 24 in prints ship within the US only — the lab has no international carrier for rigid framed parcels or the largest tubes. The 12 and 16 in unframed sizes ship worldwide.
Privacy
The short version: this site has no database and no account system. It sets no advertising or analytics cookies today. What it keeps is an email address, if you give one, and what Stripe keeps about your order.
What is collected
If you buy something, your name, email address, shipping address and payment details are collected by Stripe on Stripe's own checkout page. Card numbers never touch this site. Stripe passes back your name, email and shipping address so the order can be made and posted.
If you ask for the welcome code, your email address is stored against a customer record at Stripe, with a note of when and where you gave it. That is the whole mailing list — there is no separate marketing database.
Your browser stores your cart and whether you have already seen the welcome popup, on your own device. None of that is sent anywhere, and clearing your browser data removes it.
Who else sees it
Stripe handles payment and holds the customer record. The print lab receives your name and shipping address so it can post the print — deliberately not your email address. Vercel serves the site and keeps ordinary server logs.
Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone not needed to make and deliver an order.
The mailing list is opt-in. It is used for new work and occasional offers, and you can leave at any time by replying to any email or writing to cdriehmart@gmail.com. If you tick the box at checkout, that is a separate consent and works the same way.
Your data
Email cdriehmart@gmail.com to see what is held about you, correct it, or have it deleted. Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Deletion requests are honoured except where a record has to be kept for that reason.
If analytics or advertising measurement is added later, this page will say so before it is switched on.
